Big changes are imminent in Cologne: A comprehensive construction site on the A4 motorway will take place from March 2026 to June 2029. From March 14, 2026, there will be traffic restrictions on both the A4 and the A559 in Cologne. These measures are primarily intended to affect the traffic situation in the Porz and Kalk districts and could place a lot of demands on drivers in the region. The sections between the Cologne-Poll junction and the Cologne-Heumar motorway junction are particularly affected. A total of 1.5 kilometers are affected here, where the maximum speed is limited to 80 km/h and the passage width is restricted to 9 meters, reports news.de.
There are also restrictions on the A559, where two further sections between Gremberghoven and Humboldt are up to 1.35 kilometers long. The speed here is also limited to 80 km/h and the passage width to 6 meters. The required adjustments are part of a long-term construction project that is scheduled to be completed on June 16, 2029, according to information from the NRW State Road Construction Office.
