Security offensive in Dortmund: Police check speeders and tuners!

There is currently a lot of activity in Dortmund, especially when it comes to road safety. As part of the “Focus Presence Concept”, the police carried out extensive checks in the city center and in the northern city center on Friday, June 6th between 4:00 p.m. and midnight. The aim of this measure was to increase security and combat crime, such as Express.de reported.

Particularly frequented places such as the north exit of the main train station and the Dietrich Keuning Park were the focus of the measures. Also on Saturday evening, June 7th, many drivers from the speeding, poser and illegal tuning scene cavorted in the area of the wall. Various traffic violations were identified, including seatbelt and speeding violations, which led to several expulsions.

Controls against the tuning scene

These activities are part of a broader plan to address the issue of illegal tuning. Targeted controls took place in Dortmund in April, marking the start of the tuning scene season. How Panoramic view of Unna represents, over 100 vehicles and 149 people were checked that day. Among other things, technical defects were found in 15 vehicles, which also led to some administrative offense proceedings.

Another focus is on combating illegal conversions and the possible misuse of nitrous oxide as an intoxicant. During the controls in April, some drivers had to expect charges for not properly securing nitrous oxide bottles. Findings like these show that the police are increasingly taking action against dangerous behavior in traffic.

Intensive follow-up of violations

However, the Dortmund police presence concept goes beyond checking vehicles typical of the scene. On Tuesday, June 10th, identity checks were also carried out on Kampstrasse and Stadtgarten, during which a 36-year-old man was arrested with an arrest warrant and was able to pay the necessary amount to be released from prison on site.

On Wednesday, June 11, video surveillance targeted a driver who was driving without a valid license while under the influence of cocaine. High-quality electronic items that may be counterfeit were discovered in the trunk of his car. In this regard, criminal proceedings were initiated against the driver and after a blood sample and identification treatment, he was allowed to continue on foot.

Parts of the larger concept of security

This concerted action by the police is not in vain. Rather, it represents part of a Germany-wide effort to increase road safety, especially in light of the tuning trade fairs that took place this year. For example, between May 18th and 21st, there were over 450 checked vehicles in Friedrichshafen, 169 of which had illegal conversions, as the Baden-Württemberg press release highlights and underlines the need for such actions.

In summary, it shows that the Dortmund police are fighting the risks in road safety with a clear strategy and increased presence and ensuring that citizens continue to travel safely. The next checks and measures remain to be awaited with excitement.
