From Monday there will be a lot of work in Cologne-Rodenkirchen. The road “Zum Forstbotanischer Garten” will be completely closed in both directions for several months. The reason for this is work on a new water transport pipeline, which will ensure the drinking water supply in the city. A section between “Militärringstraße” and “Friedrich-Ebert-Straße” is affected. For residents and road users, this means a diversion via “Friedrich-Ebert-Straße”, “Konrad-Adenauer-Straße” and “Militärringstraße”. At least the Marienburg golf course remains accessible despite the construction work. Pedestrians and cyclists can also pass through the area, which eases the restrictions somewhat. The plan is to maintain the closure until mid-October.
Closures and construction sites in Cologne
However, the closures at the “Zum Forstbotanischer Garten” are not the only construction sites that are currently keeping the city in suspense. Extensive work is also underway at other locations in Cologne. For example, construction work is underway on Aachener Straße in Weiden from June 12th to October 31st, 2025, which will also affect traffic flow.
