The traffic situation around Cologne will soon change significantly. From August 28, 2025, the A559 in Cologne will be closed for a longer period of time due to extensive construction work. The lockdown begins on August 28th at 9pm and ends on August 29th at 5am. Construction sites and diversions
Traffic to the A559 will be redirected towards Bonn during the closure. Drivers are diverted via the L124 at the Cologne-Gremberg motorway junction, with the option of rejoining the A559 towards Bonn from the Gremberghoven junction. In the opposite direction, i.e. from Bonn to Cologne, the direct connection will also be closed at the Cologne-Gremberg and Cologne-Porz intersections, which will require additional diversion routes.
