New coach, big changes: Borussia Lindenthal before the restart!

The football world in Cologne is turned upside down because Borussia Lindenthal-Hohenlind is facing a major upheaval. There is a lot of change on the pitch and behind the scenes after the club recently hired Sascha Zinken as their new head coach. Zinken, who is 37 years old and previously celebrated promising successes at TuS Marialinden, is now taking on the challenge as the club wants to fight its way back to season 1 after two years in the Landesliga 2, as Rundschau Online reported.

The departed coach David Gsella, who was on board for over four years and led the club to impressive placings in the 2021/22 season, gives the new coach Zinken a strong legacy. Gsella was able to achieve 56 points from 30 games with his team last season and was praised for his work. The sporting director Roland Gabriel also has great respect for Gsella's performance and the clear influence he had on the club's development.

Big departures and fresh faces

But now things have come full circle: several key players have left the club, including Tom Schnörpel and Felix Neuhäuser. Gabriel says that their departure leaves a big gap, but at the same time promising new players will enrich the team. In this context, Paul Demtschück and Florian Hensel from SpVg. Flittard is new, as is Dennis Riering from Marialinden and the other newcomers Felix Bußmann, Mark Mittmann, Terrence Suso and Lasse Behlen. Bußmann in particular, who scored eleven goals as a central defender last season, is eagerly awaited.

In addition, Luca von Ahlen was hired as an assistant coach to support Zinken and replace Johannes Haken. And while Guido Müller remains in the coaching team, the future for Borussia looks mixed: Some players, including Sebastian Stupp, Paolo Piccinini and Antoine Brecht, also had to leave the club.

Outlook for the coming season

The new season promises to be exciting. Preparations officially begin on July 14th and a training camp will be held to get the players up to speed. Test matches against teams like Elsdorf and Kapellen-Erft are also planned. The first championship game is scheduled for August 25th and the schedule is expected by then.

In order not to miss the action on the pitch, interested fans can closely follow the developments in the coming days. Borussia Lindenthal-Hohenlind already has the potential to attract attention with a breath of fresh air and new players and to make the return to season 1 a successful mission. Stay tuned, because time will tell how the upheaval will affect the team's performance - and there's something to come for the coming months!
