On the last day of the transfer window, Fortuna Cologne struck twice and strengthened itself with two new players who should bring a breath of fresh air into the team. The 24-year-old midfielder Jonas Michelbrink moves from third division team MSV Duisburg to the southern city. Michelbrink is optimistic that he will be able to bring his previous promotion experience to the Regionalliga West while replacing the injured Suheyel Najar, who is suffering from a cruciate ligament injury.
The newcomer already has a solid career: trained at Hertha BSC Berlin, where he received a professional contract in 2021, and most recently gained valuable match practice in Duisburg. In 68 appearances he scored four goals and contributed ten assists, including 39 appearances in the third division. Coach Matthias Mink is convinced of his scoring abilities and is looking forward to the new signing.

In addition, Fortuna also signs the 19-year-old Kian Hekmat on loan from 1. FC Köln II. Hekmat, who has been playing for FC since 2013, was an important part of the U19 team that won the German championship. His 42 appearances for the U19 to date underline his talent and experience in youth work.
