Big Bang or Energy Bursts? Professor Falke explores the universe!
On August 28, 2025, the world will look at a fascinating book that addresses humanity's biggest questions. The professor Dr. Heino Falcke from Frechen publishes his work “Between the Big Bang and the Apocalypse – the great history of our planet”. In this journey through space and time he asks essential questions such as “What was in the beginning?” and “What’s next for us?” The reader encounters not only the history of the universe, but also the challenges and role of humanity in the future.
The book, which readers are already eagerly awaiting, will be presented on September 11th at 8 p.m. in the Kulturkirche in Cologne-Nippes. For the premiere, Falcke collected the expertise of science journalist Jörg Römer and interesting interviews with personalities from quantum physics, evolutionary biology, climate research, philosophy and theology in order to offer a comprehensive look at the topics. The event is accompanied by voices such as the voice actor Frank Arnold, journalist Joachim Frank and the musician FALCKE himself.
Scientific models and future scenarios
The search for answers also leads us to the scientific discussion about the end of the universe. In this area, various scenarios are discussed that affect the fate of our existence. Loud Deutschlandfunk culture There are three main scenarios: the Big Freeze, the Big Rip and the Big Crunch. While the Big Freeze has the most widespread acceptance, the Big Rip has no real evidence and the Big Crunch is considered unlikely. All of these concepts show that dark energy, which makes up more than 95% of the universe, has a decisive influence on our cosmic future.
But science doesn't sleep. A new approach from Dr. Richard Lieu from the University of Alabama in Huntsville questions the traditional Big Bang model. He publishes a model that says the universe could have arisen through “temporal singularities.” These can be understood as extremely fast, invisible bursts of energy that penetrate space and time and form the basis for the formation of galaxies. In his model, dark matter and dark energy are not necessary for the expansion of the universe. This raises exciting questions and could upset the foundations of our current understanding of how Research and knowledge reported.
