Summer vacation in Cologne: travel blessings and festive services!

With the summer vacation in front of the door, the city of Cologne heralds a time of encounter, faith and the common experiences. During the holiday weeks, numerous events are offered in the local parishes for children, adolescents, parents and teachers who ensure peace, strengthening and a lively community. The celebrations that are grouped around the travel blessing form a special start. On July 5, 2025 at 5:00 p.m., Nathanaelkirche, Escher Straße 160, invites you to travel blessings, followed by a Cologne picnic under the direction of Pastor Reinhild Widdig and musical accompaniment by Rickes. The next day, July 6th, there are several events on the program:

diverse events on July 6th

• Family service with travel blessings: 10:30 a.m. in the Petruskirche, Kieskaulerweg 53, with Pastor Daniel Rösler. In addition to the service, there are festivities with snacks, a raffle and music.
• summer festival in the church shop: 11:00 a.m. in the church shop in Sinthern, Am Hoppeberg 5, for the 33th anniversary. Here visitors can expect a family service, music and barbecue offers.
• travel blessings in the open air: also at 11:00 a.m. in the Johanneskirche Klettenberg, Nonnenwerthstraße 78, with pastors Mareike Maeggi and Julia Strecker.
• Family service with a chief reminder: 11:00 a.m. in the Erlöserkirche, Sürther Str. 34, designed by Pastor Michael Miehe and Pastor Simon Mander.
• Family travel-blessing service: 11:15 a.m. in Lutherkirche, Martin-Luther-Platz 4.
• Summer blessing "Handled by summer time": at 10:30 a.m. in the Gnadenkirche parish hall, Gustav-Heinemann-Straße 28, with a service where coffee, tea and cake are served.
• evening impulse with travel blessings: 6:00 p.m. in the Evangelical Community Center, Montessoristraße.

The "Mehr-Noten blessing" for pupils, teachers and parents, who takes place on the last day of school at 11:00 a.m. in front of St. Nikolaus, Berrenrather Straße, will be waving to the reward. The crowning glory at many of these celebrations is a picnic or a grill campaign that brings the Cologne attitude towards life even more.

A look outside the box

inspired by the tradition of other municipalities, such as the family service of the Catholic parish "Redeemer of the World" in Bruchköbel, value is also placed on community in Cologne.
