With the summer holidays just around the corner, the city of Cologne is ushering in a time of encounters, faith and shared experiences. During the holiday weeks, numerous events are offered in the local parishes for children, young people, parents and teachers, which ensure peace, strengthening and a lively community. A colorful bouquet of church services, festivals and musical performances awaits the people of Cologne Church Cologne reported.
The celebrations centered around the travel blessing mark a special start. On July 5, 2025 at 5:00 p.m., the Nathanaelkirche, Escher Straße 160, invites you to a travel blessing, followed by a Cologne picnic led by Pastor Reinhild Widdig and musical accompaniment by Rickes. The next day, July 6th, there are several events on the program:
Various events on July 6th
- Familiengottesdienst mit Reisesegen: 10:30 Uhr in der Petruskirche, Kieskaulerweg 53, mit Pfarrer Daniel Rösler. Neben dem Gottesdienst gibt es Festlichkeiten mit Snacks, einer Tombola und Musik.
- Sommerfest im Kirchenladen: 11:00 Uhr im Kirchenladen Sinthern, Am Hoppeberg 5, zum 33-jährigen Bestehen. Hier erwartet die Besucher ein Familiengottesdienst, Musik und Grillangebote.
- Reisesegen unter freiem Himmel: Ebenfalls um 11:00 Uhr in der Johanneskirche Klettenberg, Nonnenwerthstraße 78, mit Pfarrerinnen Mareike Maeggi und Julia Strecker.
- Familiengottesdienst mit Tauferinnerung: 11:00 Uhr in der Erlöserkirche, Sürther Str. 34, gestaltet von Pfarrer Michael Miehe und Pfarrer Simon Mander.
- Familie-Reise-Segen-Gottesdienst: 11:15 Uhr in der Lutherkirche, Martin-Luther-Platz 4.
- Sommersegen „behütet durch die Sommerzeit“: Um 10:30 Uhr im Gemeindehaus Gnadenkirche Pulheim, Gustav-Heinemann-Straße 28, mit einem Gottesdienst, bei dem Kaffee, Tee und Kuchen serviert werden.
- Abendimpuls mit Reisesegen: 18:00 Uhr im Evangelischen Gemeindezentrum, Montessoristraße.
The reward is the “More Than Grades Blessing” for students, teachers and parents on July 11, 2025, which will take place on the last day of school at 11:00 a.m. in front of St. Nikolaus, Berrenrather Straße. The culmination of many of these celebrations is a shared picnic or barbecue, which brings out the Cologne attitude to life even more.
A look outside the box
Inspired by the tradition of other communities, such as the family service of the Catholic parish “Redeemer of the World” in Bruchköbel, Cologne also places value on community. There, the children, who spend their vacation in different ways, were given a small suitcase as a symbol of the travel blessing, and the adults were also given an “Our Father” in different languages.
