Musical highlights in Cologne: organ concert and cultural discoveries!
A varied cultural program awaits the people of Cologne in the coming days! The musical journey of discovery starts on Thursday, October 16th, in the Tersteegenkirche Dünnwald, where the exciting concept “The Theory of Everything” awaits visitors. The event begins at 8 p.m. and transforms the church into a “sound laboratory”. Acclaimed musicians such as Carl Ludwig Hübsch on the euphonium and Elisabeth Coudoux on the cello will certainly captivate the audience with their creativity and passion. Surprises are also planned, as a surprise guest will enrich the musical journey. The themes of the evening revolve around the visibility of sounds, the combination of music and text as well as movement as a musical element in space, as the website of the Church of Cologne reports.
But that's not all! On Friday, October 17th, the “Wine and Bible” exhibition will take place in the Philippuskirche Raderthal, which will provide entertaining insights into the exciting connection between wine and faith until November 3rd. Humorous aspects are guaranteed, and kick-off events as well as devotions with wine tastings give the event the right kick.
Cultural sounds
Another highlight for music lovers is the concert with Rob Goodwin, the frontman of The Slow Show. This will also take place on Friday, October 17th, in the Kulturkirche Köln-Nippes, with entry starting at 7 p.m. Tickets for the evening cost 28 euros and can be purchased in advance.
But the absolute music highlight follows on Saturday, October 18th: the organ concert with Dominique Proust in the Johanneskirche Klettenberg promises unique acoustic experiences. The internationally acclaimed astrophysicist and organist will play works by William Herschel and Pierre Moreau at this concert at 6 p.m. - including some world premieres!
Church music has a long tradition here in Cologne. The organ concert series in Cologne Cathedral is one of the best attended in the world, with over 15,000 visitors every year, and ensures that organ music has a permanent place in the city. In recent years, the focus has not only been on well-known organists, but also on collaborations with well-known choirs, as highlighted on the Cologne Cathedral website explained.
An unforgettable experience
After the concert with Dominique Proust, a small snack and drink will be served in the community hall, where guests of the Protestant parish of Lille-centre (EPuDf) will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas and make new acquaintances. Admission to the concert is free, but donations are welcome.
Keeping Cologne culture alive is not just a task for organizers, but a shared gift to the community that is particularly noticeable these days. Be there and enjoy the wide range of artistic performances - there's really something to be said!
