Lola Weippert speaks plainly: Sexual harassment in the spotlight!

On June 27th and 28th at the LANXESS Arena in Cologne, the Greator Festival 2025 defied the shadow of sexual assault that has recently dominated the headlines. The event, which was dedicated to personal development, brought together numerous prominent guests, including the well-known RTL presenter Lola Weippert. She gave insights into her professional and private life and answered questions from the participants. Her commitment was particularly impressive when, after the talk session, she bloomed selfies, autographs and personal conversations with her fans for 90 minutes.

But not everything went harmoniously. In her Instagram story, Weippert reported on unpleasant situations that she had experienced with some male fans. She didn't mince her words and clearly demanded respect: “Keep your hands to yourself,” was her message during the photo shoot. Weippert, herself known for her freedom on social media, wants to set an example not only for herself, but also for other women. “I’m also thinking about the other women lining up for photos,” she explained.

Unlimited respect?

Weippert was particularly affected by an incident that did not only occur in connection with the festival. On her way to Thailand to visit her boyfriend on a yoga retreat, she was sexually harassed at the airport. A strange man made loud kissing noises and clearly pointed to his mouth, which Weippert clearly interpreted as an invitation to kiss. She documented the incident live while the man waited with two acquaintances, a motif that underscores the widespread problem of sexual harassment in public places.

According to a 2025 survey, 92% of women between the ages of 18 and 35 have experienced sexual harassment or transgression. These numbers call for vigilance: 55% of these women were touched or kissed unwantedly, 72% reported catcalling and 49% reported unwanted advances. Such incidents raise awareness that even in crowded public spaces such as airports there is no safe place to retreat.

The social dimension

The challenges women face are profound and complex. Dealing with sexual violence in Germany reaches limits that often do not take the right to sexual self-determination into account. These manifestations of violence range from simple sexual harassment to more serious assaults. According to the German Association of Women Lawyers, over 90% of victims of sexual violence are women, with the perpetrators mostly being men.

Education remains an important concern: awareness campaigns and educational programs could help to raise awareness of the issue and make border crossings public. It is vitally important that women feel safe and encouraged to talk about their experiences.

Weippert himself advocates setting clear boundaries and establishing a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment. "There are many respectful men and it's unfair to lump them all together, but we need to talk about it to make change happen," she says. With this attitude, Weippert sensitized the audience at the Greator Festival with her open approach to the topics of respect and harassment.

The Greator Festival provided a space for personal development and the important dialogue that is often required in our society. Lola Weippert's courageous speech and her commitment are not only inspiring, but also a clear call to everyone to treat each other with respect.

The topic remains relevant, and initiatives like the Greator Festival are crucial to promoting respectful coexistence in our society.
