A tragic traffic accident rocks the Carl Orff Elementary School in Hürth. On June 4th, a serious incident occurred at the intersection of Theresienhöhe and Frechener Straße. A group of students from classes 4B and 4C were on their way to physical education class when they crossed the green pedestrian traffic light and were hit by a car. According to current findings, the driver, a 20-year-old, ran a red light. The result was devastating: a total of seven people, including two adults and five children, were injured, two of them seriously.
A particular shock for the school community was the news about the condition of a 25-year-old school companion who was critically injured. A letter sent to parents on June 10 incorrectly reported his death. This information was immediately spread on social media, particularly in Hurth Facebook groups, causing great consternation in the community. However, the Cologne public prosecutor's office made it clear that the school companion is still in an "extremely critical" condition, but has not died, as Express.de can report.
Psychological support for those affected
It's not just the physical health of the injured that is important. After such traumatic experiences there are often psychological consequences that should not be underestimated.
