Cologne and Aachen triumph at Jewrovision 2025 in Dortmund!
What an exciting evening for Jewish youth in Germany! The 22nd Jewrovision took place in Dortmund on June 8, 2025, and there was great celebration because the Jachad Cologne youth center and Kavanah Aachen were able to win first place. With a total of 143 points, they left the competition behind, with JuJuBa narrowly taking second place with 139 points. JuZe Amichai from Frankfurt followed in third place with 128 points. The event, which had the motto “United in Hearts”, brought together over 1200 young people who shone on stage with passion and talent.
The moderators described the evening as “mega”, and the participants knew that Jewrovision was not just about the competition, but also about strong messages such as solidarity and strength. Topics such as wars, anti-Semitism, exclusion and loneliness were exceptionally well integrated into the performances.
Prize winners and special awards
The jury, consisting of experienced members such as Susan Sideropoulos and Sam Dylan, awards not only the best groups, but also individual achievements. For example, JuZe Jachad Cologne won the prize for best singing, while JuZe Olam from Berlin was awarded for the best performance, dance and choreography. Gelsenkirchen young people from JuZe Chesed were responsible for the video prize and sang the haunting line “Time for us to get up”. Not to forget the group JuZe Emet feat. AmEchad from Nuremberg was awarded for the best text, while JuZe HaLev from Stuttgart took home the prize for best stage design.
A look at the future
The Jewrovision supporting program was equally impressive. In addition to various performances, a memorial ceremony entitled “Bring Them Home” also took place. The importance of Jewish life was emphasized, which Daniel Botmann and Marat Schlafstein made vivid. The latter encouraged everyone present to be proud of their identity. It is clear that the next Jewrovision is already in the starting blocks - it will be held in Stuttgart from May 14th to 17th, 2026.
But there are exciting developments not only in the world of youth centers. There's also a lot going on in the music scene. The artist LINA is planning a new beginning for 2025. She has ended her long-term relationship and wants to focus on what feels right for her. In the future she will be represented by Hansa Recordings. She's already hit the highs with three top ten albums and gold awards, and her upcoming single "She Knows (Betty Draper)" is inspired by a strong female figure.
Growing challenges
Today, young people face a variety of challenges, including with regard to anti-Semitism. Experts such as Tim Ackermann, Jakob Baier and others are working intensively on this topic in order to sensitize and educate young people. Their work offers valuable insights into integrating anti-Semitism prevention into education.
Jewrovision was not just a competition, but a place where important topics were discussed and talents were promoted. Let's stay excited to see what the next Jewrovision and the coming months will bring.
