Cologne: Summer holiday support courses for students are starting soon!
Summer holidays in Cologne not only offer a welcome break from school, but also a valuable opportunity to catch up on learning backlogs. The school psychology service of the city of Cologne has therefore launched special support courses for students from the seventh grade onwards during the summer holidays. These courses are aimed at young people who are admitted to the re-examination or who are recommended to take part by the specialist teacher. In this way, individual needs and learning levels are addressed as quickly as possible.
With a wide range of subjects, which includes German, mathematics and English as well as French, Latin and Spanish, young learners can catch up in a targeted manner. In the second half of the holiday, students also have the subjects of biology, chemistry and physics. The courses take place at the vocational college on Lindenstrasse in Cologne and offer the opportunity to experience intensive learning in small groups under the guidance of trained teachers.
Details about the courses
Each remedial course lasts three weeks, includes 26 lessons and costs 132.95 euros. The first registration window opens on July 7th and ends on July 11th, 2025 for the first half of the holiday. Students can register for the second half until July 28th. Participants can only take part in one of the two vacation halves and can only concentrate on one subject. In this way, the city ensures that the courses are well structured and resource-saving.
The subject boundaries are clearly defined: Students from various types of schools are eligible to participate, including secondary schools, secondary schools, comprehensive schools, high schools and vocational colleges. It is particularly advantageous that students who are aiming for a secondary school leaving certificate or would like to acquire qualifications for upper secondary school can also take part.
