New coaching team from Viktoria Köln: A breath of fresh air for the season!

FC Viktoria Köln is facing a fresh new beginning. From June 20th, Marian Wilhelm will hold the reins as the new head coach and welcome the team to their first training session. His predecessor, Olaf Janßen, was deprived of important experience that will now be used for the challenges ahead. But Wilhelm doesn't come alone; A young and dynamic team of trainers will accompany him. A team that should not be taken lightly.

With an average age that is more reminiscent of a junior team, Kristopher Fetz (30) and Fynn Fust (25) are at Wilhelm's side as assistants. Fetz, who was until recently head coach of 1. FC Düren, also has a UEFA A license and has previously proven himself as an analyst and scout for the DFB. His colleague Fust is returning to Viktoria after a stint at Borussia Dortmund, where he most recently worked as assistant coach of the A-juniors. The other members of the coaching team also have their places secured: Kevin Rauhut (35) remains goalkeeper coach, Florian Braband (25) becomes athletic trainer, and Patrick Loch continues to take over the rehabilitation support.

A positive signal from the sports director

Sports director Stephan Kuesters is very satisfied with the early composition of the coaching team. “The balance between new impulses and continuity will be crucial,” says Küsters. Wilhelm himself places great value on teamwork and open communication within the coaching staff, which forms a good basis for the interaction between team and coach.

The team's unusual youthfulness could bring a breath of fresh air into the dressing room. Does this change help motivate players and develop new strategies? We'll know more from June 27th, because that's when Wilhelm's first game as head coach will take place. Viktoria meets the Rhineland league team VfB Linz.

Opportunities on the pitch

The game plan promises many challenges. In addition to the duel with Linz, there are also test games against well-known opponents on the program:

  • SC Wiedenbrück – 4. Juli
  • Bonner SC – 8. Juli
  • FSV Frankfurt – 12. Juli
  • VVV Venlo – 19. Juli

The season will really get going with the first third division matchday, scheduled between August 1st and 3rd. It will be exciting for the fans to see how the young coaching team and the team prepare for the challenges.

Overall, Viktoria Cologne is facing a promising path. It remains to be seen whether the combination of fresh strategies and the experience of the five trainers in the background will be enough to gain a foothold in the third division. However, one thing is certain: a good hand in putting together a team can be the key to success.
