Impro Cologne: City tours with an acting twist start soon!
Aachener Straße 65, 50674 Köln, Deutschland - Cologne's urban landscape is richer this summer: the innovative combination of city tour and improvisation theater from IMPRO Cologne . Lena Breuer, the founder of the theater of the same name, is behind this creative concept, which not only welcome Cologne, but also tourists.
From July 20 to the end of August, the city walks take place every Sunday between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The meeting point is the studio at Aachener Straße 65. And don't worry: when it rains, it is informed in good time about a cancellation or an alternative program so that the fun does not fall into the water. Breuer and their 15-member ensemble offer a unique experience in which historical facts are converted into living, improvised stories.
A look at the route
The tour leads along the Hahnentor along Rudolfplatz, where a medieval scene is performed. Another hold is the impressive sculpture "During the" Resting Traffic "by Wolf Vostell in the Belgian district, which serves as an inspiration for creative interludes. So the walk to a lively exploration, in which history and theater flow.
"We want to offer an alternative to conventional city tours," explains Breuer. The concept arrives: the mix of knowledge transfer and entertaining performance inspires the participants. If you fancy something extraordinary, you should bring comfortable shoes and a drink and just get started!
The full program in summer
In addition to the city walks, the improvthe theater is also on the program: From July 30th to August 2, there are various improv shows at the southern bridge every day between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Highlight formats are "La Kölsche Vita", a humorous examination of love and Kölsch culture, as well as "love. An improvised romantic comedy". An improvement with favorite songs rounds off the offer. Tickets cost around 20 euros and are available on the Impro Cologne website.
Breuer has mastered numerous challenges since it was founded two years ago, including the dilapidated water supply and old power lines in their theater. These problems have been resolved today and the ensemble can offer the performances of the best quality. Nevertheless, Breuer has to fight passionately for her art: Improvisation theater is currently not recognized as an art form in Germany and therefore does not receive any cultural promotion.
The indoor season then begins at the end of August and the courses are very popular. Cologne and guests can therefore look forward to a rich cultural program that illuminates the city in a varied way. For all those who are still looking for other experiences in the cathedral city, Traditional city tours are always worth a look, whether underground explorations, nightwood tours or shipping tours on the Rhine.
