Gamescom, the largest trade fair for computer and video games in the world, is a real magnet for gaming enthusiasts. This year, Cologne will once again be the capital of the gaming industry from August 20th to 24th, 2025. A huge number of exhibitors, including the likes of Activision, Nintendo, EA, Disney and Sega, gets ready to introduce the latest innovations and trends. Demand is high, but it was made clear that the event does not aim to surpass the record 373,000 visitors set in 2019. Instead, the focus is on improving the visitor experience to avoid long waiting times of two to three hours.
Last year, Gamescom had 335,000 guests, and the number of visitors in 2023 also increased to 320,000. These visitors came from over 100 countries and experienced a variety of offerings as indie games continue to gain traction in this segment. The big indie area was a highlight and attracted numerous developers and curious players.
A festival of games and music
This will be particularly excitingGamescom City Festival, which will take place on August 23rd and 24th in downtown Cologne. Here, visitors can expect free concerts on several stages, including at Hohenzollernring and Rudolfplatz. The event is also livened up by attractive food trucks and special offers for children, so there is really something for everyone. The trade fair itself offers an impressive exhibition area of 230,000 square meters, where more than 1,200 exhibitors can present their latest products. In 2024 we have already seen an increase in trade visitors to 31,000 - an increase of 25 percent compared to the previous year. Gamescom has thus established itself as an indispensable date in the gaming industry's calendar.
