These controversies surrounding VAR show once again how emotional and polarizing the technology is in modern football.
Problems with the VAR
This innovation could perhaps help to reduce the unrest and discussions surrounding the VAR. But whether this will actually succeed remains to be seen. In any case, the discussions surrounding the VAR decisions indicate that this technology has not yet reached the level of acceptance that many would like.
After the defeat, the challenge for FC Cologne remains to learn from these experiences and be more successful in the next game against other opponents - and perhaps also against the VAR. After seven games, FC Cologne has a solid record in eighth place in the Bundesliga, even if the controversies surrounding referee decisions will continue to be an issue.
