Police save a woman from Wassermannsee - search for a missing swimmer is running!

In the Vogelsang district in Cologne, the police forces of the police were called for a dramatic rescue operation in the early morning of June 12, 2025. Local residents alerted the police at 3:30 a.m. after hearing calls to help from Wassermannsee. When they arrived, the officials discovered a 24-year-old woman in the water who was in acute danger and suffered from severe hypothermia. Immediately she swam to her to take her safely to the shore, where she was immediately taken care of.

Unfortunately, the rescue operation led to the sobering discovery of another missing person. It is a 22-year-old from Cologne who swum together with the woman in the lake. The police and the fire brigade used extensive search measures that included rescue divers, service dogs and a police helicopter. These funds were used to search the area around the Wassermannsee thoroughly, but so far there have been no traces of the man.

no evidence of external debt

The investigators examine the incident and check information on possible alcohol and/or drug use in the two swimmers. However, there is currently no evidence of external debt, which calms the situation for the forces involved in the rescue campaign. The officials ask witnesses to report to the criminal police in order to possibly receive further information on the disappearance of the man.

A look beyond the city limits

Similar incidents unfortunately piling up in different regions. In November 2023 there was also a large-scale search use on the Main-Donau Canal in Forchheim when a missing person was suspected there. The police, fire brigade and water guard searched with boats, thermal imaging cameras and even with a helicopter for the person who was finally found intact. Such operations show how important a quick alarm and preparatory work is to save human life.

In another incident in Spandau, several people suffered in advance of our report on June 11, 2025. A 39-year-old man had argued with a group of three and was injured with a knife. Here, too, it flashed how quickly violence can result from a harmless argument, while the police are intensively investigating because of heavy robbery.

The incidents of the past few days illustrate the challenges that the police and emergency services face in their missions. Your work is crucial to ensure the security of the population and to react quickly to emergencies. Whether in Wassermannsee or in another place - the emergency services are always ready to help.
