The spectacular dance adventure firmamento: youth dreams in space!
Köln, Deutschland - Today, on June 16, 2025, the ensemble "La Veronal" attracts all the eyes in Cologne with its new performance "Firmamento". Directed by the Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau, the audience awaits a fascinating journey through time and space that deals with life and evolution since Big Bang. The show begins with hectic, twitching movements by six young people about elaborate electric music equipment that immediately ensures goosebumps and anticipation.
In this exciting staging, an older doll reflects on her life and the unfulfilled of some youth dreams while "flying" to the universe. This message that not all dreams of the youth can be fully realized is contrasted by hope for future generations that are still facing great opportunities. "Life is always on the move," according to the central topic, which runs through the emotional roller coaster ride of the performance and shows the different wishes and dreams of generations.
visual and acoustic impressions
"firmamento" also convinces with its creative visual elements. An impressive comic strip brings the dimensions of the viewer position. With allusions to film classics such as "2001: Odyssey in space", "Apocalypse Now" and "Bladerunner", the total work of art is strengthened. A quote from Lewis Carroll, "it takes a lot of madness to be able to endure so much reality", the complexity of the event aptly sums up.
The music comes from the avant -garde artist Laurie Anderson and is accompanied by Juan Cristobal Saavedra in sound design. The performance, which takes a total of 75 minutes, alternates between fast, energetic sequences and slow, thoughtful moments that address the aging and adaptation. The stage design of Max Glaenzel and the costumes of Silvia Delagneau support the visionary orientation of the staging.
The master behind the choreography
Marcos Morau, a creative all -rounder from Valencia, is not only successful as a choreographer, but also brings experience from the areas of photography and dramaturgy. He founded his own dance company "La Veronal" in 2005 and is known for his innovative concepts that merge movement, emotion and characters. Morau is a fascinating artist who can often be guided by the surrealism movement and inspiring personalities such as Virginia Woolf and Francis Bacon. He has an insatiable curiosity and believes that dancing and traveling are closely connected.
his works keep challenging the limits of art by integrating various art forms such as fashion, visual art and film. And although Morau started as a ballet dancer in Valencia, he quickly discovered that his strengths were more in the field of choreography. With a fine feeling for synchronicity and individual forms of expression, it designs every performance in such a way that it is remembered by the dancers of "La Veronal" and their audience.
"firmamento" is another testimony for Morau’s ability to tell meaningful and moving stories that stimulate both response and thinking. From the imaginative giraffes of childhood to the complex issues of growing up - Morau manages to show in an urgent way that life is always in motion.
