Last year, 1. FC Köln's pace was up for debate. The club realized that there was a lack of speed not only on the ball, but also in the running game. In order to remedy this weakness, FC signed a total of twelve new players in the summer of 2023. Joel Schmied (34.34 km/h, 40th place) and Sebastian Sebulonsen (33.81 km/h, 70th place) are now also on the list.
