The final decisions are imminent in the Oberbergische Landesliga. This Sunday, June 12, 2025, it will become clear whether SSV Homburg-Nümbrecht can realize its championship dream or whether FV Wiehl will finally secure salvation. Both teams have prepared their fans for the final duels, which promise more than just three points.
The first game that comes into focus is the clash between Grün-Weiß Brauweiler against SSV Homburg-Nümbrecht. Kick-off is at 3:30 p.m. SSV Homburg-Nümbrecht has prepared intensively for the game behind the scenes, while they are already sweating with fear - numerous injured players are available to coach Torsten Reisewitz. The loss of Felix Sievers, Tom Hillenbach and Lukas Grünberg could prove painful.
A dramatic championship evening
Nümbrecht have performed remarkably in recent weeks and are in line for a championship opportunity after they beat Deutz 05 with a 2-1 win on the final day of their home game. In the 10th minute they were still 0-1 behind, but a penalty from Joscha Trommler and a goal from Felix Klein finally led to a much-needed victory.
With another win on Sunday they could take the lead. It will be exciting because SSV Bornheim also has the championship in their own hands and only needs one point against FV Bad Honnef. Nümbrecht has to hope that the competition makes a mistake in order to preserve his chance of the state league championship.
In the parallel game, FV Wiehl plays against 1. FC Spich. Wiehl has put itself in an excellent starting position with an impressive 6-1 win against FSV Neunkirchen-Seelscheid. In this important game it will be crucial for Wiehl to get at least one point in order to escape the relegation zone.
The situation in the district league
Of course, not everything revolves around the state league; the district league also has tricky decisions to make. Eintracht Hohkeppel II and Pulheimer SC meet in another thrilling duel. Hohkeppel II needs a win or a draw to secure promotion. Coach Giuseppe Brunetto has full confidence in his team and is striving to win the championship on his own.
The meeting between Blau-Weiß Köln and SV Schönenbach could also be an exciting duel. Schönenbach could ruin promotion with a win against Cologne. There are a few departures on both sides - including Julio Molongua and Deniz Durmus will no longer wear the colors of Blau-Weiß Köln in the future.
The view of youth
The region's youth soccer teams are also in the spotlight. On Saturday, June 17th, exciting games will take place in the youth area. FV Wiehl meets SSV Bornheim in the A-Junior district league. The B-Juniors of FV Wiehl are also in action in the Middle Rhine League and have to survive against SC West Köln.
The last match days promise pure excitement - while the regional league is fighting for the championship and relegation place, the district league teams have to set the last important course. Spectators are warmly invited to support their teams and experience the emotions of football together!
