Füchse Berlin faces a big adventure: semi-final against Nantes!

The handball community in Cologne is excited because the eagerly awaited Final Four will take place next weekend EHF Champions League instead of. On June 14th and 15th, 2025, everything that is important in European handball will take place in the Lanxess Arena. The Füchse Berlin, who are taking part in the final tournament for the second time this year, are ready to get closer to their dream of their first Champions League title.

In the semi-finals, the Foxes will face the French side HBC Nantes on Saturday, June 14th at 3 p.m. The Berliners can count on defense chief Mijajlo Marsenic, who clearly emphasizes: “Everything is possible in the Lanxess Arena.” The 30-year-old, who has been with the team since 2018 and won the Champions League title with Vardar Skopje in 2017, brings a lot of experience with him. Marsenic sees his team as outsiders, but the team was able to gain new self-confidence by winning the Bundesliga championship title.

Team spirit and humility as the key to success

In his statements, the Serb emphasizes the team spirit that forms the backbone of the Foxes. He is convinced that the team has a chance despite the strong competition, which includes Nantes. “Less than 28 goals conceded usually leads to victory for us,” explains Marsenic, because the defense plays a crucial role in the Foxes’ strategy. The collaboration between Marsenic and goalkeeper Milosavljev, who form a “Serbian axis”, is particularly important.

The defense chief looks at Nantes' upcoming opponents with respect. The French club has exceeded its goals this season and has made a name for itself. “We have to be focused and determined,” demands Marsenic, who has a reliable partner at his side in his coach Jaron Siewert. Siewert, who has been in office since 2020, has prepared the team intensively throughout the entire season.

The final tournament in detail

In addition to Füchse Berlin and HBC Nantes, the defending champions FC Barcelona and SC Magdeburg will compete against each other in the other semi-final on the same day. This game takes place at 6 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on free TV, with broadcaster DF1 broadcasting the entire event live in cooperation with DAZN. The anticipation among the fans is huge, after all it's not just two German teams fighting in the competition, but also traditional clubs that have decades of experience in international handball.

The Foxes' return to the Final Four could also be the beginning of a new success story for the team. 21 cross-competition games in a row without defeat show that the Berliners are willing to give it their all. Marsenic hopes that all the hard work of the season will now be rewarded in Cologne. It remains to be seen whether the Foxes can bring the necessary bit of luck and the right form onto the floor.

The future of handball in Germany looks bright, and the participants in the Final Four in particular are setting an example for the potential of the local teams at European level. With this in mind, one can only say: Off to the Lanxess Arena – where big dreams can come true!
