Daniel Ginczek: First title as a coach – a new football hero!
There has been a lot of discussion and celebration in football in the last few days. The focus is particularly on Daniel Ginczek, a name that is familiar to many football fans. The former VfB Stuttgart striker recently won his first title as a coach. This is a significant step in his career, which is now entering a new phase after experiencing various ups and downs in professional football in recent years. Ginczek, who onApril 13, 1991was born in Arnsberg, found his way into the coaching role in 2025 and has proven himself in this very special role.
Ginczek is not only known for his athletic abilities. During his playing career, the 191 cm tall striker scored a remarkable 26 goals in 72 games for VfB Stuttgart and is often associated with the club's traditional team, for whom he continues to play occasionally. His path to becoming a professional began at a young age, including stints at Borussia Dortmund and 1. FC Nürnberg.
A look at Daniel Ginczek's career
In order to properly classify Ginczek's successes, it is important to look back on his impressive career. After his early training at SC Neheim and Borussia Dortmund, he moved to various clubs in the Bundesliga, where he mostly played as a striker. His loans to VfL Bochum and FC St. Pauli were particularly successful, where he scored a total of 23 goals and was able to make a name for himself. After moving to VfB Stuttgart in 2014, he was able to demonstrate his skills at the highest level before moving on to VfL Wolfsburg in 2018.
Strokes of fate such as torn cruciate ligaments shaped his career, but Ginczek never gave up. When he moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2022, he faced the challenge of staying in the league and mastered it before ending his active career at MSV Duisburg in 2024. But instead of retiring, he took the plunge into coaching.
The challenges in the football business
As a coach, Ginczek can draw on the valuable experience he has gained throughout his career. In the football business, coaches are often fired overnight, sometimes without really being given a fair chance to develop. How UniBW reports, coaches change frequently, while players can only be signed or released during certain transfer periods. An aspect that is often discussed, especially in Germany, as interim solutions often come from within our own ranks. This practice may work in the short term, but the question remains how sustainable such solutions are.
Update from the coaching landscape: The rapidly changing chairs in football can be a real challenge for the clubs. BILD journalist Nicolas Linner and coach Thorsten Fink see a need for action here in order to regulate coaching changes and not make them seem like a “shot in the dark”. Unlike players who are tied to transfer periods, coaches are available at any time - a situation that remains difficult for many.
No matter how the football landscape changes, one thing is certain: Daniel Ginczek has made a name for himself not only as a player, but now also as a coach and remains an interesting player in the world of football. We are excited to see where the next steps will take him and whether he can continue to celebrate success. Football is and remains a business of surprises and constant change, which remains a constant challenge for Ginczek too.
