Excitement at Schiersteiner Hafen: Sprint championships inspire!

Last weekend the 29th edition of the German Sprint Rowing Championships took place in the picturesque Schiersteiner Hafen. Under a milky autumn mist, spectators gathered on the quay wall to watch the thrilling competitions on the 350-meter track. From Friday, October 10th to Sunday, October 12th, 2025, the event offered exciting sport at a high level with participants from all over Germany. The event was organized by RG Wiesbaden-Biebrich, which, although there were small time differences, had everything under control to give the spectators an unforgettable day.

The atmosphere was characterized by a colorful hustle and bustle: sports enthusiasts, families and those interested in rowing came together to experience the racing skills of Germany's best rowers up close. In addition, the races could be watched both from the shore and via a large video screen, which allowed everyone not to miss any detail. There was no entry fee, which made the event a great excursion destination, complemented by on-site dining options.

Thrilling competitions and strong performances

In the men's eight category, the Frankfurt rowing company “Germania” dominated and was the fastest eight with a time of 53.31 seconds. Osnabrück took second place, followed by Hameln. The women's eight went to Mainzer RV 1878, who also showed a great performance with 1:02.21 minutes. Lena Siekerkötte from Kettwiger RG won the women's singles duel, followed by Stoeber and Wiebke Hanack from Gießen.

In the men's single scull, Moritz Witten from the Cologne RV of 1877 prevailed and won with a wafer-thin lead of 6 hundredths over Gerrit Schäfer from Neuwied. There was pure excitement in the women's double scull, where Bentja Schneider and Tjorven Stina Schneider from the Bochum 1920 rowing club crossed the finish line just 0.01 seconds ahead of Mainz. The men's double sculls were also a real highlight: Valentin Loesch and Henri Deutscher from Wanne-Eickel won with a time of 1:02.86 minutes.

Youth and para rowing

The junior eights were won by Bessel-RC Minden, while Frankfurt's RG “Germania” won the junior eights in 56.14 seconds. In the para division, David Schäfer from Mannheimer RV “Amicitia” was at the top of the podium in the PR4 single scull, while Susanne Lackner won the PR4 mix double sculls.

The championship once again showed how popular sprint regattas are in Germany. With short distances and intense competitions, they attract not only experienced athletes but also numerous young talents. The event at Schiersteiner Hafen was a great opportunity to celebrate the enthusiasm for rowing. The entire event shone with fine sporting achievements and a lively atmosphere.
