Find out about the upcoming traffic restrictions in Flittard due to construction sites between October 20th and November 7th, 2025.

Traffic chaos in Cologne: construction site on Stammheimer Ring from October 20th!
From October 20, 2025, there will be restrictions on road traffic in Cologne that will particularly affect drivers in the area of the Stammheimer Ring, the B8 towards Flittard. These traffic restrictions are the result of extensive construction work that will last until November 7, 2025. A new danger message shows: Increased traffic volumes and possible traffic jams cannot be ruled out during this time. The construction work includes, among other things, sidewalks and cycle paths with a length of 0.03 km and is coordinated by the NRW State Office for Road Construction.
How news.de reported, the maximum permissible speed during construction work is limited to 50 km/h and the passage width is a maximum of 5.00 m. These measures are intended to ensure that traffic remains flowing despite the disruption.
More construction sites in the region
But there are construction sites not only in Mülheim. There are also several construction sites on the motorways in North Rhine-Westphalia, which affect road users on the A1 and A61, for example. There has been bridge work on the A1 between the Bliesheim intersection and Erftstadt since September 30, 2025, which will last until June 13, 2026. Here the road is narrowed to two lanes, which of course further increases the traffic volume. Similar construction work is also taking place on the A61 between Koblenz and Mönchengladbach, where traffic has also been restricted for several weeks verkehrslage.de reported.
What else is the traffic situation like in North Rhine-Westphalia? The statistics show a clear increase in traffic volumes and traffic accidents. According to current data, the number of accidents recorded by the police in 2024 was 79,601, with 62,741 of these also resulting in personal injuries. This shows that road safety remains an important issue in the region, as the Statistics NRW highlights.
Traffic volume and security situation
The motorization rate in North Rhine-Westphalia is 589 cars per 1,000 inhabitants, which once again underlines the volume of traffic. With a total of 29,508 km of inter-local roads, the region is highly networked, which brings additional challenges in times of construction sites.
The question remains how our roads will develop in the future, especially with the ongoing growth in traffic and upcoming construction projects. Drivers need to plan well and, if necessary, consider alternative routes in order to avoid traffic jams and disruptions as best as possible.
