Film music highlight: Saxonet impresses in Cologne-Dellbrück!

Something is happening in Cologne-Dellbrück: The traditional orchestra Saxonet invites you to a special concert. On June 14th, the Pauluskirche will be the venue for “Movietime”, a concert that will delight you with melodies from Hollywood's most famous films. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and promises musical highlights for young and old. Admission is free, but donations for the orchestra are very welcome.

Raimund Sanio, a long-time member and board member of Saxonet, explains: “We have been making music for over 20 years and have built up a wide repertoire during this time.” The orchestra consists of around 30 members who perform on stage with woodwind instruments and percussion. They not only show modern orchestral pieces, but also classical, jazz and film music, which makes Saxonet a special ensemble in the region. Some of the pieces that will be heard at the concert come from timeless classics such as “The Lord of the Rings” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”. ksta.de reports that the selection will be convincing.

An orchestra with tradition

The history of Saxonet began in 2003 when Guntram Freytag founded the ensemble. After his tragic death in 2021, Yuriy Broshel took over the management and brings a breath of fresh air to the rehearsals. He is known as a professional saxophonist and ensures that the orchestra continues to perform at a high level. Broshel's commitment is also evident in the performance of up to 17-part arrangements, which have become the norm today. For a long time it was only five-part pieces that dominated the repertoire. This development is also reflected in the musical offering, which goes far beyond the classic brass music pieces. evangelisch-in-koeln-dellbrueck-holweide.de adds that there is an open invitation for interested hobby musicians who are welcome to join the ensemble.

The rehearsals take place every Monday in the Pauluskirche, and the beginners' orchestra “TONEMAKERS” invites even the youngest to take part. This initiative demonstrates Saxonet's commitment to promoting a vibrant music culture in the community and providing a platform for young musicians.

The Importance of Amateur Music

The enthusiasm for music in the region is not only represented by Saxonet. The bundesmusikverband.de has launched the amateur music portal frag-amu.de, which helps amateur musicians organize rehearsals and form clubs. Such initiatives help keep music culture in Germany alive and also promote new ideas and projects.

For jazz lovers, film freaks and music enthusiasts, the “Movietime” concert on June 14th is an absolute must. The combination of a family atmosphere, rousing music and the opportunity to support a good cause speaks for itself. And who knows, maybe during this evening you will discover the desire to become part of a musical community yourself.
