Culture at Neumarkt: Free program inspires Cologne and visitors!
The Neumarkt in Cologne blooms again: Mayor Henriette Reker officially opened the gates of the art pavilion for the “Take Place - Culture on Neumarkt” project on July 9, 2025. After a one -year break, the popular cultural project, which was elected to the three most sought -after events in the city in 2023, returns and invites you to a colorful program until September 5. The pavilion, designed by the artist Erika Hock, offers an inviting room to linger, discover and participate - free of charge for everyone interested.
The mayor described the Neumarkt as "one of the greatest problem children" in Cologne and emphasized the importance of a lively culture to revitalize the square. "Take space" sees itself as part of Broaderer measures for upgrading the new market, which include new street crossings, outdoor catering on the fountain and the installation of new space furniture. These projects are designed not only to make the location more attractive, but also more social.
cultural diversity and hands -on activities
The program does not give up boredom: music from the "Gigi Girls" and a DJ set from Nada Formosa have fulfilled the opening evening with Italian sounds. By September 5th, there will be entertaining every day, including short film demonstrations, concerts, performances, as well as readings as part of the "Cologne Literature summer", which takes place daily from 5:30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
The program details have been designed in collaboration with numerous Cologne artists and institutions such as the Cologne University of Media and the Cologne University of Music and Dance. In addition to the returnees from the previous year, like the soprano Anna Moog and magician Connar Schlüter, new players bring fresh wind with formats such as the "coffee gossip" by Thomas Bartling and concerts by Janosch Pugnaghi.
an access for all
One of the most gratifying news for Cologne teams and interested parties: All events are free of charge and accessible without prior registration. This is particularly important for a broad target group ranging from families to young people to adults. For those who not only want to participate, but also want to become active, there is the possibility to share their own events on platforms such as Cologne.
Cologne -free, a platform that is dedicated to providing information about free events and activities in the city, supports this initiative and enables users to regularly be informed about the latest cultural highlights. All districts of Cologne are covered, and you can find both daily and weekly tips for unforgettable experiences.
The festival is rounded off with a colorful final party on September 5, 2025, which will provide a grandiose atmosphere with live music and DJs. The “Take Place” series of events has not only established itself as a meeting point for cultural -loving enthusiasts, but also shows how important such initiatives are for our city.
