There's been a buzz around 1. FC Köln lately, and the rumor mill is buzzing more than ever. Again Cologne City Gazette reports, FC Köln has expressed interest in Jakub Kaminski, the 23-year-old player from VfL Wolfsburg. Kaminski, who moved from Lech Poznan to Germany in 2022 for an impressive 10 million euros, played 22 games last season and recorded three assists. However, his achievements do not seem to have gone entirely unnoticed. His current market value is around 5 million euros - a significant decrease compared to his original transfer value.
FC Köln's interest is not limited to Kaminski. The club is also targeting Aaron Zehnter from SC Paderborn, who contributed a convincing ten assists and three goals in 32 second division games last season. A change of coach is also apparently imminent, as Lukas Kwasniok from Paderborn is considered the new coach. This could provide the template for some fresh transfers and usher in an eye-catching football season.
Kaminski's plans
Kaminski's recent statements after the Polish national team's international match against Moldova left no doubt that he will have a conversation with his agent after the national team's upcoming training camp. “I am closely monitoring the situation in Wolfsburg and would like to make my decision dependent on the appointment of a new coach,” said Kaminski. He stated that he is not necessarily pushing for a change, but is definitely open to new experiences.
In addition, there has been interest in Kaminski from other European clubs in recent days, which makes the situation even more exciting. The Lions, who have Kaminski's contract until June 2027, have so far shown hesitation, while their coach still has to formulate future professional steps.

The financial commitment of those responsible in Cologne was quite remarkable: a total of 10 million euros for the two transfers in order to significantly strengthen the team for the coming season.
The discussion surrounding Max Finkgräfe, who could potentially leave the club to make room for new talent, could also have an impact on future decisions. Finkgräfe only made 14 appearances without scoring a goal last season, which significantly influenced his market value estimates.
