A serious accident caused a stir in Cologne-Ossendorf today. At around 1:45 p.m. there was a collision between a car and a KVB tram at the intersection of Fitzmauricestraße and Rita-Maiburg-Straße. A 47-year-old driver turned left and drove his Skoda into the tram on line 5, which was then dragged for a few meters. Everyone involved was lucky in misfortune: according to the police, four people were slightly injured.
The KVB railway suffered significant damage in the accident. While the accident was being recorded, the trains between Heumarkt and Rektor-Klein-Straße were affected, and replacement buses were used between Rektor-Klein-Straße and Sparkasse. From around 4.45 p.m. things went back to normal on the route, so traffic gradually started moving again.
