Cologne cultural weekend: open-air cinema, art and more from August 29th!

Next weekend, from August 29th to 31st, Cologne city center will be transformed into a vibrant center for art and culture. This exciting event, organized by the Cologne University of Technology in collaboration with the Cultural Space Management of the City of Cologne and supported by KölnBusiness Economic Development, promises a varied program that will delight both residents and visitors. Around 25 creative minds, including numerous students, have developed an exciting concept that enlivens the city center and opens up new perspectives on art and culture. The Rhenish advertising papers report that the heart of the program consists of three guided tours of temporary cultural offerings.

The starting shot will be given on Friday, August 29th, with a vernissage in the former Schuhaus Raphael. Everything here revolves around fashion and luxury – an absolute must for fashion enthusiasts. A tour of Cologne city follows at 7 p.m., the meeting point is also the Schuhaus Raphael. Finally, an open-air cinema on Karl-Küpper-Platz rounds off the evening, where a mysterious film is shown from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. However, what exactly will be shown remains under wraps.

Weekend activities

Saturday, August 30th, offers the opportunity to take another tour of the city center at 11 a.m., before there is a discursive lunch at the Quartermarkt from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Here you can look forward to stimulating conversations and culinary delicacies.

On the final evening, August 31st, at 2 p.m. there will be another round of the Cologne city. Those interested in culture can discover the different facets of the city in a new way. And best of all: Participation in the entire program is free, so everyone has the chance to become part of this cultural tour of discovery!

Cologne's diverse cultural offerings

Cologne has steadily expanded its cultural offerings in recent years, which is also evident in the current variety of programs. In addition to the temporary cultural project, there are numerous events scheduled every year. Cologne Day takes place every first Thursday of the month, on which the city's museums are open until 10 p.m. and Cologne's citizens can enjoy free entry. Another highlight is the Queer Film Night, which presents the best films from queer world cinema every second Tuesday in the film range. Cologne is happy to inform you about these diverse opportunities to discover the city culturally.

But that's not all! The coming weeks promise numerous cultural highlights: from the immersive exhibition “Monet's Garden” to the “Cologne Jazzweek”, which brings local and international talent to the stage. For book lovers, there will be the book exchange at the TH Köln on September 6th and 7th, where you can buy secondhand books and records for a good cause.

Another exciting event is the participation of citizens in the local election arena on August 31st at the Aachener Weiher, where they can talk to candidates. Admission is also free. Regardless of your personal interests, everyone will find what they are looking for in Cologne and can experience the city's cultural diversity up close.

With a mixture of art, dialogue and cuisine, the weekend cultural project offers a wonderful opportunity to experience Cologne's city center in a lively way. Take the chance and immerse yourself in the culture of Cologne!
