Construction site chaos on the roads: road users have to wait a long time!

In Cologne and the region, the traffic situation remains tense due to numerous construction sites. While the November weather does not ease road conditions, motorists are faced with challenges due to several restrictions and closures.

Currently on the A1 motorway there are between Schweich and Triangle Moselle Valley Bridge work is underway in both directions and will last until November 10th. This construction work is part of a series of measures that are currently being carried out on the roads in the Cologne area and beyond.

Construction sites at a glance

In addition to the work on the A1, many other motorway sections are affected. Here is a brief overview:

  • A6 Mannheim Richtung Saarbrücken: Baustelle zwischen Rohrbach und Sankt Ingbert-Mitte bis 28. November.
  • A8 Pirmasens Richtung Saarlouis: Baustellen und Sperrungen, die bis Anfang Dezember andauern werden.
  • B51 Saarburg – Serrig: Gesperrt wegen Bauarbeiten bis ca. 8. November.

The traffic situation is so tense that there can be occasional traffic jams and traffic jams. Drivers should therefore urgently pay attention to appropriate speeds and follow traffic signs. Diversion signage is in place in the affected areas to assist road users.

Obstructions on other roads

Particularly noteworthy is the construction site on the K28 between Thune and Harxbüttel, which will also cause severe restrictions until November 14th due to bridge work. Disabilities are to be expected here both in the direction of Thune and in the direction of Harxbüttel. Traffic accidents and closed sections should require drivers to be extra patient.

In addition to the construction sites on the motorways, the construction activity on the federal highways cannot be overlooked. There are specific closures and traffic disruptions in numerous places such as Homburg, Merzig and Neunkirchen. These activities are intended not only to ensure greater security, but also to modernize the aging infrastructure in a reasonable period of time.
