Today, October 3rd, 2025, 1. FC Köln will really take off in the second round of the DFB Junior Cup! With an impressive 4-0 win against FC Carl Zeiss Jena, the team not only secured a place in the round of 16, but also attracted a lot of enthusiastic fans. After the game, coach Stefan Ruthenbeck could only find words of praise for the dynamic offensive play of his protégés.
The highlight of the game came in the first half when Fynn Schenten scored three goals in just eight minutes in the 30th minute, followed by Maik Nelson Afri Akumu (34th) and Jason Manuel Ponente Ramirez (38th). Schenten went one better with his second goal in the 65th minute and made the final score. dfb.de reports, that it was a real flood of goals for Cologne that sent the audience in Ahlerstedt into ecstasy.
An exciting competition
But it wasn't just Cologne that caused a sensation in this cup round. The Stuttgarter Kickers also had a strong day and won 4:3 in a close game against JFV A/O/B/H/H. It was particularly exciting here: The Kickers quickly led with two goals from Mika Seeger (11th) and Ardi Mulaj (15th), before Lasse Schumacher scored the next goal for the Jena team in the 25th minute.
One should not forget what happened in the second half: After Julian Schmidt increased the Kickers' lead to 3:1, JFV A/O/B/H/H came closer again through Lenn Pauly (40th, penalty kick) and Anton Beer (74th, penalty again). However, Salem Chettibi's goal in the 58th minute made it 4-2 before he had to leave the field with a red card in the 84th minute. Despite all the efforts of JFV A/O/B/H/H, the Stuttgart team managed to defend their narrow lead until the end and thus also made it to the round of 16. A total of 1,180 spectators were present at the exciting game in Ahlerstedt - an impressive sight that reflects the passion and commitment of the young talents.
