EHF Youth Club Trophy: Handball youth fights for the cup in Cologne!

The anticipation for the big handball event is growing: On June 14th and 15th, 2025, the EHF Youth Club Trophy will take place in Dormagen, a tournament that brings together the best U18 handball teams from all over Europe. The Lanxess Arena will provide the stage for the all-important finale on Sunday, which will take place at 11.30 a.m. The game starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday - an exciting weekend for handball fans is guaranteed. KStA reports that the matches will be played at the TSV Bayer Sportcenter in Dormagen.

A total of 16 teams have a chance of winning the title. These are divided into four groups and are played according to the tried and tested EHF FINAL4 format: There are two semi-finals, a game for third place and of course the decisive final. The participating clubs are top-class: Barça from Spain, HC Eurofarm Pelister from Macedonia, GOG from Denmark and the Veszprém Handball Academy from Hungary will demonstrate their talent. EHF highlights that all games will be streamed live on EHFTV and accompanied by local broadcasters.

The following matches are scheduled for Saturday, June 14th:

  • 9 Uhr: HC Eurofarm Pelister vs. GOG
  • 11:30 Uhr: Barça vs. Veszprém Handball Academy

The game for third place will take place on Sunday before the stars of handball fight for the title. This is where you have to take action, because the demand for the coveted places is certainly high!

A new competition format for the U18s

Particular attention is paid to the new format of the EHF Youth Club Competition, which will be held parallel to the EHF Champions League. A total of 13 of the 16 clubs playing in the Machineseeker EHF Champions League 2024/25 are part of this tournament. Handball Planet explains that the teams are made up of four geographical groups and the winners of the qualifying tournaments qualify for the final in Cologne. This brings a breath of fresh air into the U18 competition and allows young talents to shine.
