Top game in the district league: Southwest meets undefeated Rheindörfer!

The coming weekend promises top sport in the District League Season 1, when DJK Südwest Köln and SpVg Rheindörfer face each other on Sunday. For both teams, this encounter is not only an important league game, but also almost has a derby character. The Rheindörfer are in second place with 24 points, while Südwest is in fourth place with 21 points. A win could be crucial for the championship, especially since the Rheindörfer are so far undefeated, while Südwest has a record of six wins, three draws and just one defeat.

In the last encounters, the teams had different results: While Südwest played a disappointing 2:2 against Heiligenhaus, the Rheindörfer also drew their match against Deutz 05 (1:1). “The game is a yardstick,” says Daniel Errens, the coach of Südwest. He emphasizes the strength of the Rhine villages and the need for a unified team effort. Sebastian Tillmann, his colleague at Rheindörfer, mentions the importance of the game and speaks of a derby as his squad stabilizes again after injuries.
