Wild metal nights: Elsdorf rocks with Motörblast on the edge of the opencast mine!

On July 21, 2025, the “Music with a View” event took place for the sixth time on the edge of the Elsdorf opencast mine. The event, which had the motto “Wakin’ up Elsdorf”, attracted numerous metal fans to the outdoor area of the Forum Terra Nova. A location known for its impressive scenery, providing the perfect backdrop for a heavy metal concert. The concert was ceremonially opened with Mayor Andreas Heller and Dieter Kirchenbauer.

The first show act of the evening was the metalcore band Lost Sanity, who traveled from Bedburg with their frontman Julian Froese. The band, which has been active since 2016, lit up the evening with expressive riffs and socially critical lyrics from their EP “Asylum”. But the highlight was without a doubt the tribute band Motörblast, which already enjoys a high cult status in the metal scene.

Motörblast and their unbridled metal power

Motörblast is known for their authentic live performances and has made a name for themselves across Europe. As the flagship of the famous Wacken Festival, they delighted around 200 fans with classics such as “Ace of Spades”, “Heroes” and “Eat the Rich”. The charm of the singer Dr. Ape, based on the legend Lemmy Kilmister, stole the show. The event was described as an evening full of unbridled metal power, which made people want to continue it soon.

What was particularly remarkable was the tireless energy that Motörblast brought to the stage. Their power and authenticity not only make them a homage to Motörhead, but also make them stand out in the long list of heavy metal bands. In combination with steelpreacher, who are based on the sound of the 80s and stand for straightforward heavy metal, the night was a must for every metal fan.

Admission and event information

The event began at 7:30 p.m., with festival lovers allowed entry from 6:30 p.m. For €32.00, fans could stand in the middle of the action and experience the music up close. An additional highlight: the admission ticket suggests the use of buses and local trains in the Rhine-Mosel transport association for the day of the event, which enabled the metal fans to travel comfortably.

Some of the biggest festivals are coming up in the coming weeks, including Wacken Open Air, which will take place on July 29, 2025. July promises to be a real land of milk and honey for metal fans. But the memories of the concert in Elsdorf will resonate for a long time, because the audience is sure: there was really a celebration here!

The event in Elsdorf will definitely have a permanent place in the region's event calendar. Metal is not just music; it is an attitude to life, and this was impressively demonstrated here. To all fans: Keep your eyes open for the next concerts and holidays in the metal scene!
