Boomerang European Championships 2025: Spectacular competitions and night show in Cologne!

In Cologne-Müngersdorf, the focus will be on boomerangs on July 12th and 13th, 2025, when the city hosts the 20th European Boomerang Championship. The venue is the Jahnwiese, where sports enthusiasts of all ages get their money's worth. Admission is free and the program promises exciting competitions and exciting public activities.

On the first day of competition, Saturday, the event begins at 9 a.m. with the Maximum Time Aloft (MTA), in which participants attempt to keep their boomerangs in the air for as long as possible. Spectators can look forward to spectacular throws in the various disciplines spread throughout the day. For example, the Australian Round, which combines a mix of distance, precision and safety, is played between 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. This is followed by Accuracy and the Fast Catch challenge, which must be completed in record time. The crowning conclusion is the Night Throwing, in which the athletes present spectacular shows with illuminated boomerangs. The audience will certainly be amazed here!

The exciting Sunday

Sunday starts with Trick Catch and Doubling, a discipline in which the throwers have to show particularly creative catches from a wide variety of positions. This event is sure to awaken the competitive spirit as the audience will be able to witness the artistry and skill of the participants at their best. The endurance test takes place in the afternoon, in which the throws are counted in a five-minute time window. The final highlight is the award ceremony at 8:15 p.m.

The diversity of disciplines is impressive. In Fast Catch, in which the time is stopped between five throws, the current world record is 14.07 seconds - a real blast. To do this, the athletes have to throw from the bullseye and the boomerang must cover a minimum distance of 20 meters. The competition consists of two rounds, with the fastest time counting. Tips from the scene advise throwing more carefully at first and then attempting riskier throws in the second round in order to achieve the best success.

A celebration for the whole family

There is also a lot on offer for the spectators outside of the competition. On both days there will be food and drink stalls as well as a boom shop where boomerang enthusiasts can buy their own boomerangs as souvenirs or find out more about the sport. The European Championships are a perfect opportunity to find out more about the sport of boomerangs or perhaps even try out throwing them yourself. No spectator is left behind, as the exciting action captivates all age groups.

In addition to these program points, it is important to mention that in the Australian Round points are awarded for distance, catch and precision. The best results lead to exciting competition and leave you wanting more. Who knows, maybe the next Champions litter will be decided here on Lake Constance!
