Cologne celebrates 2026: The Royal Wiesn” with Bavarian delicacies and music!
Cologne, the fourth largest city in Germany, is facing an exciting event in October 2026: the “Royal Wiesn” at the Tanzbrunnen. This Bavarian festival will take place over two weekends – October 9th to 11th and October 16th to 18th. The event is organized in cooperation with Prince Luitpold of Bavaria, who acts as a source of ideas and patron and emphasizes his family's historical connection to Cologne. The event is likely to be a real celebration for many Kölsch fans and friends of Bavarian cosiness.
At the heart of the “Royal Wiesn” there will be a heated festival tent that can accommodate up to 3,500 guests. Visitors can look forward to original Oktoberfest bands, as Ballermann stars and carnival bands have no place here. A beer garden and numerous delicacy stands will round off the culinary offerings. Classics such as roast pork, chicken and vegan alternatives are on offer, while the beer “König Ludwig Hell” is served in steins at a price of 14.50 euros.
A feast for all senses
The Oktoberfest grounds will not only be characterized by festive music and good food. Attractions such as a Ferris wheel, nostalgic rides and a shooting gallery guarantee fun for young and old. There will also be very special formats on the two Sundays: there will be a white sausage breakfast on October 11th and a Cologne Pride event will take place on October 18th. Part of the proceeds will support the CSD parade, which shows that the festival also sets an example for diversity and inclusion.
The pre-sale for tickets begins on November 3rd, and seat reservations are possible from just 19 euros. Slowly but surely the anticipation is in the air - the queue for the tickets will fill up quickly!
Cologne – a city with history
Cologne receives double recognition from UNESCO: the impressive Cologne Cathedral was the tallest building in the world from 1880 to 1890 and is an important landmark of the city. In addition, Cologne, with its approximately 1.1 million inhabitants and more than 3.1 million people in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region, is not only a center for culture and education, but also an economic hub. Cologne Bonn Airport serves as a regional transport hub, while the city is characterized by industrial sectors such as aviation, chemicals and automotive manufacturing. Cologne also maintains partnerships with cities around the world, including Barcelona, Beijing and Istanbul.
With its diverse cultural offerings - over 30 museums, numerous galleries and the annual carnival festival - the city has a lot to offer. Its lively nightlife and infamous Kölsch culture ensure that there is always something going on in Cologne. The anticipation of the “Royal Wiesn” is not only supported by the city's rich history and lively present, but also reinforced. The festival will most likely be a real highlight in the coming event season.
