Filming for The Country Doctor’s Practice”: Bad Tölz has film fever!
A new chapter in the success story of the TV series “The Country Doctor’s Practice” is currently being written in Bad Tölz and the surrounding area. Director Hannes Spring and actors Oliver Franck and Christian Hoening do everything they can to present the new episodes in the best light. A dedicated film team of 30 people is busy capturing the picturesque backdrop on the Isar promenade. These recordings are part of the fourth season, which will be broadcast on Sat.1 next year with a total of 240 episodes. Particularly interesting: Five episodes were filmed directly in Tölz city center Mercury reported.
The plot of the series revolves around Dr. Sarah König, played by Caroline Frier, who wants to start a new life after moving to the country. Her daughter Leo, played by Katharina Hirschberg, accompanies her on this exciting path. The dazzling world of the fictional village of Wiesenkirchen, in which the story takes place, comes to life in the real community of Schliersee, known as the filming location for various other productions such as “A Bavarian on Rügen”. In addition to Bad Tölz, Spitzingsee also serves as a backdrop for some of the emotional scenes, such as Kino.de supplemented.
Filming in Bavaria
The team rehearsed in bright sunshine before the first song was heard. The preparation is meticulous in detail: each text sample is followed by a technical check of the lighting and camera positions. This meticulous planning ensures that the filming takes place under the best conditions. The special thing about filming in Bavaria is that three other teams are working at the same time in studios near Cologne. Around 15 minutes of series content is created per team per day, as by Mercury confirmed.
In recent years, Bavaria has developed into a hotspot for film productions, and for good reason: the region is not only scenic, but also very well equipped in terms of infrastructure for film teams. Martin Hartung from Film FernsehenFonds Bayern emphasizes that international productions can benefit from funding to optimize costs. In 2023, a good 41 million euros in funding were distributed, which could also be important for the current filming in Bavaria, reports BR.
The spirit of optimism in the Bavarian film milieu is clear: more and more Hollywood productions are finding their way into the Bavarian landscape. This development is not only beneficial for the German film industry, but also brings a breath of fresh air and innovative ideas to existing projects such as “The Country Doctor’s Practice”.
