GNTM finale in Cologne: These models are fighting for the coveted cover!
The grand finale of “Germany’s Next Top Model” is just around the corner! On June 19, 2025, the last six models will fight for the title in Cologne. The finalists present themselves in an exciting competition: Zoe, Magdalena, Daniela, Moritz, Pierre and Jannik. The decision will be made, among other things, at the crucial cover shoot for “Harper’s Bazaar”, where editor-in-chief Kerstin Schneider, together with Heidi Klum, will assess the models’ performance stern.de reported.
To get to the final, the participants had to overcome numerous challenges. Daniela, the 20-year-old, particularly stands out as she landed three out of four possible jobs during the casting week, including an editorial shoot in Paris. “Every job challenged me a lot, but I learned a lot,” she says proudly. The finalists impress at the photo shoot, but Magdalena struggles in the rain, while Canel has difficulty with her poses and receives criticism from Klum. Jannik, who reports that he was the victim of bullying because of his hip-hop preference, believes in his strengths, even if he has to face criticism for his outfit.
Challenges in competition
The models reflect on their experiences and share personal stories. Canel has experienced bitter blows of fate, including the loss of her drug addict father. These individual stories show the vulnerable side of competition, which is not all glitz and glamour. However, according to a study by the International Central Institute for Youth and Educational Television (IZI) and the NRW media authority LfM, the candidates are exposed to strong pressure in the competition. This pressure can lead to serious psychological problems such as depression, which highlights the dark side of talent shows like this taz turns out.
The models not only have to deal with the competition, but also with enormous expectations from viewers and the production. This dynamic makes competition so attractive, but also risky. Maya Götz, one of the authors of the study mentioned, points out that the consequences of participation for the candidates often remain unpredictable.
The final steps to victory
For the finale, each candidate was given a budget of $1,500 for a joint shopping event. The models work in teams of two, which creates additional stress. While Canel is thrilled with the experience, Pierre struggles with shopping challenges and has to return some items because there is not enough money. “It’s not just fashion, it’s also strategy,” he says. The tension increases because only one person can win the cover for “Harper’s Bazaar” and thus carry the title of GNTM winner.
Until the big finale, the audience in Cologne will have to keep their fingers crossed for their favorites! Who can grab the title and secure the next big success after Jermaine Kokoú Kothé, the first male winner in the history of GNTM 2024?
