Jungk, who was born and raised in Worringen, has an eventful life story - his parents came to the Cologne district as refugees from East Prussia and Pomerania after the Second World War.
His passion for marathon running developed during his training, and in 1986 he took part in the marathon in Berlin for the first time. Since 1997 he has been an integral part of the Cologne Marathon, where he runs with an oversized Kölsch glass on his back. This not only makes him recognized by his family in the crowd, but also makes the audience smile. In his career, Jungk has also completed other major marathons in cities such as Düsseldorf, Athens, Bordeaux and Palma.
A creative mind with a heart
Bertoldt is making a name for himself not only as a runner, but also as a creative spirit. His marathons are characterized by special costumes based on current events, including appearances as Dieter Baumann after his doping scandal or as a dove of peace after the tragic events of September 11th. Some of these costumes were exhibited in the Sports and Olympic Museum in Cologne - a small but fine example of his creative streak.
In addition to his passion for sports, Jungk is also involved in carnival. He designs carnival floats for the Worringen citizens' association with a lot of enthusiasm. This creative activity began when a friend of his became a prince at the carnival. His cars address current social challenges, including the energy transition and the debate about parent taxis.
