A559 near Cologne: full closure due to bridge work – important diversions!

Drivers around Cologne will have to prepare for significant restrictions from November 14th. The A559 will be completely closed due to bridge work. To ensure that commuters don't get stuck in traffic jams, the city has already worked out diversion routes, which will also be important for the next closures.

The full closure affects the section between the Cologne-Gremberg intersection and the Cologne-Porz triangle. In the direction of Bonn, the A559 will be closed from the Köln-Gremberg junction to the Gremberghoven junction. For the Cologne direction it means that from the Cologne-Porz triangle to the Cologne-Gremberg intersection there is no more driving. Diversions and alternatives

To minimize the impact of the closure, the following diversions are in place:

• In Fahrtrichtung Bonn/Frankfurt: Ab dem Kreuz Köln-Gremberg über die A4 nach Frankfurt, anschließend über die A560 nach Bonn.
• In Fahrtrichtung Köln/Aachen: Ab dem Dreieck Köln-Porz über die A59 und A3 zum Kreuz Köln-Ost, dann weiter auf die A4 nach Olpe und Wenden in Köln-Merheim.

This five-day closure is not the only construction site in the region. There will also be traffic disruptions on the A3 in the next few weeks. Closures are already planned near Emmerich from November 7th and near Duisburg, which will last for ten days in both directions.
