Leaving group Sundwig plants pear tree: a sign of climate protection!

Sustainability and climate protection are currently on everyone's lips, and the fire brigades in Germany show how to actively contribute to it. The extinguishing group Sundwig of the Hemer volunteer fire brigade was enthusiastic about the nationwide fire brigade tree plant-challenge. They planted a pear tree on the tool shed to set a sign of responsible environmental protection. This campaign was initiated by the partner fire brigade from Güby in Schleswig-Holstein, which she reported Lokalkompass.de ....

"We are responsible for the environment and the fire brigades should also stand for sustainability," said the extinguishing group leader Thomas Agehage. This idea is also shared by many other fire departments all over Germany. In fact, it is said that over 80 fire brigades are currently reporting in the Traunstein district alone lfv-bayern.de ....

The challenge at a glance

The tree plant challenge has spread like a running fire over social media. Nominated fire departments have to plant a tree within a few days to escape a "punishment". This usually consists of an invitation to a barbecue evening - a very tasty motivation! In Hemer the pear tree was planted with a lot of joy, and the extinguishing group is pleased to nominate the Garbeck fire brigade of the Balve fire brigade, the fire brigade Oerie of the Pattens fire brigade and the Holweide fire brigade of the Cologne fire brigade.

Similar actions also take place in other parts of Germany. The fire brigade Varel, for example, planted a tree on the site of a weaving mill. The transport of the tree was also carried out professionally in a sling nwzonline.de that…. This type of use not only claims resources, but also creates a strong sense of community among the firefighters.

commitment to the environment

The commitment that our fire brigades show here goes far beyond emergency aid. They are actively committed to protecting their homeland and the climate, according to the district fire councilor Christof Grundner from Traunstein. Trees are not only important for our environment, they also create a habitat and contribute to improving air quality. Each planted copy is a small contribution to a big picture.

With this action, not only a tree is planted, but also a light is thrown onto the indispensable role, the fire brigades play in our society - at a time when climate protection is more urgent than ever. It will be interesting to see what the next planting actions bring and which fire brigades will be challenged next!
