Family festival at Gut Harbecke: Red Rocket Festival delights 400 visitors!

Yesterday the charming Red Rocket Festival took place for the second time at Gut Harbecke in Rönsahl. The organizers, a creative team made up of former students from a shared apartment in Cologne-Lindenthal, launched this event after organizing an outdoor party in 2021 due to Corona restrictions. Moritz Knoche, the head behind the organization, estimated the number of visitors at around 400. For the participants, the family atmosphere of the festival was a particularly positive aspect.

“Red Rocket” gets its name from the name of a shared apartment that was active in the 1970s. The Gut Harbecke location offers an excellent geographical location for enjoying loud music without any disturbances from the surrounding area. Visitors not only came from the surrounding cities such as Cologne, Altenkirchen, Mettmann, Tübingen and Bonn, but also enjoyed the variety of the music program, which ranged from reggae to electro. Many participants were between 20 and 35 years old, which underlines the young, dynamic character of the festival.

Diverse activities and sustainable concept

As well as concerts, the festival also offers a range of workshops including fire breathing, improv theatre, soldering and morning yoga. Prosecco Pilates was offered for relaxation in between. At the festival site, visitors also found local culinary delicacies from the Kelm bakery and the Rönsahler brewery, which supported the event. Craft beer tastings and street food carts provided pleasant dining.

The organizers are committed to offering fair prices and good quality as part of a sustainable concept. The festival lasted four days and offered guests the opportunity to camp comfortably and have fun at the swimming pond, playing volleyball or in the enchanted forest.

A look into the future

Most participants were enthusiastic about the event and the idea of organizing the Red Rocket Festival 3.0 next year is already germinating, provided the landowner's consent is given. “We would like to continue to organize the festival for nice people and are also looking forward to new faces,” said Knoche. With a clear focus on community and creative exchange, the Red Rocket Festival could establish itself as an integral part of the regional event landscape.

The Red Rocket Festival is one of the many music festivals in Germany that are known for their diversity and charm. Just think of the Glücksfühle Festival with around 130,000 visitors or the Fusion Festival, which is often compared to “Burning Man”. The popularity of such events shows that music and community can work wonders even in times of the corona pandemic. Want more? Check out the details on this come-on.de and went out.de to.
