René Wirtz: Visions of the future for Troisdorf and new proximity to citizens!
There's a lot of excitement in Troisdorf as the local elections on September 14, 2025 are getting closer. René Wirtz, the co-chair of the SPD Troisdorf and a committed local politician, has already laid the foundation for a future-oriented city concept. He knows the city's challenges very well, because as a five-year-old boy he accompanied his father, who was a city council member for the SPD until the 1990s, in the election campaign. Today, at the age of 48, he continues his path with passion, not least as the father of a small son.
Wirtz has a clear vision for Troisdorf and wants the administration to act from the perspective of the citizens. “I want to increase the appreciation for citizens’ concerns,” he emphasizes. To do this, he plans to go directly to the districts, hold discussions and set up a round table for volunteer work. This proximity to citizens is also part of the SPD's comprehensive election program, which emphasizes that Troisdorf should become an inclusive city for all citizens - regardless of age, origin or income. SPD Troisdorf calls for the rapid implementation of decided projects and criticizes the delays by the top administration.
Investments for the future
One of Wirtz's central concerns is the creation of Veedelsplatz and district centers. “We want housing for all generations that is affordable and barrier-free,” he explains, building on the SPD’s call for a forward-looking housing policy. In addition, safe routes to school, cycle paths and reliable public transport should improve the mobility of citizens. Wirtz sees particular problems with parking, garbage and rule violations and plans to strengthen the public order office.
“We also have to improve the infrastructure in Troisdorf,” Wirtz continued. He highlights the dilapidated fire station houses and calls for them to be rebuilt and modernized. This is not only important for civil protection, but also for citizens' trust in the administration. “We need a good knack for volunteering, and culture shouldn’t be neglected,” he adds.
Election preparations are in full swing
For many citizens, the local elections are a crucial event. According to Troisdorf.de, election notification letters must be received by citizens by August 24, 2025. From August 25th to 29th it will be possible to view the electoral roll and raise any objections. Election day itself will take place on September 14, 2025, polling stations will open at 8 a.m. and preliminary results will be published online that same evening.
How Troisdorf will develop further, whether with René Wirtz at the helm, remains to be seen. One thing is certain: the challenges are great, but Wirtz is ready to tackle them with vision and commitment to make Troisdorf a vibrant city for everyone. The election will show whether his ideas resonate with citizens!
