Bomb in Cologne-Kalk: Police hunt mastermind of the Mocro Mafia!
In the early morning hours of June 19th, a shock wave occurred in Cologne-Kalk: a restaurant on the busy corner of Kalk-Deutzer-Straße and Deutzer Ring was rocked by a massive explosion. Fortunately, no one was inside at the time of the crime, which meant that no one was injured. However, the effects of the explosion were devastating. Window panes were broken and chairs were thrown onto the pavement as Cologne police are now searching for the bomber who appears to have links to the notorious Mocro mafia, reports [Bild.de](https://www.bild.de/regional/nordrhein-westfalen/restaurant-in-koeln-ge Sprengt-polizei-jagt-bombenleger-der-drogen-mafia-6856476c5cc1ca15643e402e).
The main suspect, Sermet A. (23), is - at least for the time being - in custody in France and is suspected of not only being part of a larger drug ring, but also of having come into possession of 700 kilos of marijuana. Of this amount, 350 kilos are said to have already been stolen in a raid by rival dealers. The Cologne investigation file contains links to brutal intimidation tactics, including torture and hostage-taking, which are apparently used for internal punishment. Senior public prosecutor Ulrich Bremer mentioned that it is a well-organized drug trade, which is partly carried out through Dutch suppliers, according to information from WDR.
The search for clues
The police were able to identify the bomber thanks to a surveillance camera. The suspect is described as being around 1.80 meters tall and was wearing a hoodie and jogging pants. Before the explosion, he may have been using a cell phone, possibly to take a video of the bomb. After the crime, he fled towards the Deutz Technical University, accompanied by another unknown person. The police have asked the public for help and hope that witnesses will come forward. Current investigations by the Cologne public prosecutor's office have already been ongoing for five months and have identified 35 suspects. So far, 15 men have been arrested in Germany, while another man is being held in Paris. The involvement of the Cologne suspects suggests that they are not individual perpetrators, but rather a group that organizes the resale of the drugs. A name that appears particularly frequently in the investigation is “Kalk” – apparently a central point in this criminal network.
The Mocro Mafia
The Mocro Mafia, which originated in the Netherlands, has expanded its influence on the drug market in Germany. This group is known for its unscrupulous practices and poses a serious threat to public safety. According to reports, the Mocro Mafia's machinations are not only limited to Cologne, but extend to several cities in Germany. Nevertheless, according to the Cologne public prosecutor's office, there are no signs of this group spreading unhindered in the city. The Kalker gang, which obtained 700 kilos of cannabis from the Netherlands, instead appears to have internal conflicts that lead to thefts among their own ranks, such as [Spiegel.de].
The situation remains tense as the investigation continues. The Cologne police are determined to bring the masterminds behind these crimes to justice in order to restore a sense of security in Cologne-Kalk.
