Jürgen Becker is planning traffic history museum in the Kaufhof car park!
Cäcilienstraße, 50823 Köln, Deutschland - Cologne could soon open a completely new chapter in museum history. The cabaret artist Jürgen Becker has made an ambitious proposal into the world: a museum of traffic history is to be built in the Kaufhof car park on Cäcilienstrasse. In a city that is considered the cradle of the Ottomotor, Becker wants to bring the numerous stories about the development of traffic to alive. According to Express , Becker sees the current time as an ideal to position Cologne as an important location of the automotive industry.
With his idea "Motorcolonia", Becker would like to point out that the stereotypical representations of Cologne-such as carnival, churches and the famous Kölsch beers-do not do justice to the city. "Cologne has more to offer," says Becker. The cabaret artist wants to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities that the automotive industry currently experiences. In view of the uncertain future of Ford in particular, he sees the need to present Cologne as an investment location.

But how should the whole thing be financed? Becker plans mixed financing from private and public funds and is convinced of the feasibility of his project. At the moment the idea is still in the conception phase, which means that Becker is actively advertising with potential supporters. "We want to create new things without building new buildings," emphasizes Becker. He hopes for a positive response from the city and the citizens.
in Cologne itself there is already an example of a successful traffic museum. The Historical tram museum in Cologne-Thoughn Time travel through the development of Cologne traffic since 1877. Visitors can not only dive into the history of the trams, but also discover many special exhibits - including the first electrical railway and a 1: 1 model of the driver's head of a light rail car.
BECKER hopes that his concept for the traffic history museum "Motorcolonia" will encounter similar enthusiasm and the city of Cologne gains such a new attraction. It remains to be seen how his vision will continue to be promoted and whether Cologne will soon be known not only for its carnival traditions, but also for its important traffic history.
