KSC brings Danish goalkeeper Bernat: New hope for the 2nd Bundesliga!
Karlsruher SC has a new man between the posts! Today it was announced that 24-year-old goalkeeper Hans-Christian Bernat is moving to KSC from Botev Plovdiv in Bulgaria. As the successor to Max Weiß, a new chapter is emerging in the club's goalkeeping history. Bernat, who was born in Morud, Denmark, brings a wealth of experience having spent last season in the Bulgarian first division, where he kept 14 clean sheets in 37 appearances. He will wear the shirt number '1', which has been available since the release of White, underlining his ambitions.
Sports director Simon Pauls sees Bernat not only as a talented keeper with a modern profile, but also as a player with a lot of potential. His strong focus on the opening of the game not only convinces those responsible at KSC, but also creates anticipation among the fans. “We are convinced that he will develop further with targeted support in both team and goalkeeper training,” said Pauls. Managing director Mario Eggimann also commented on the quick change: “It was important to present a new number 1 promptly in order to close the gap after the sale of Max Weiß.”
A versatile talent
Bernat's football training took place at Odense BK's youth academy, where he made a name for himself as a Danish junior national goalkeeper. When asked about his move to Germany, Bernat emphasizes that it is an important step in his career. “I’m really looking forward to the challenge in the 2nd Bundesliga and working with Markus Miller and the goalkeeping team,” explains the new KSC goalkeeper. He not only wants to improve his individual performance, but also actively contribute to the team's success.
At 1.92 meters, Bernat also has the physical requirements to be successful in professional football. During his time in Bulgaria he established himself as an ambitious and strong player. His strengths lie not only in classic goalkeeping, but also in the technical expertise that he shows when opening the game. “I’m ready to do my best,” says Bernat full of optimism.
The KSC has high hopes for the talented keeper. In the 2nd Bundesliga, Bernat will have the opportunity to prove himself against some of the best attackers in the country. The coming games will show whether the Danish goalkeeper actually has what it takes to lead the KSC back into the upper leagues. And if you look at FBref's statistics, it's clear that goalkeepers can often make the difference in the second division. Here Bernat will be required to demonstrate his skills.
