HSV fan falls seven meters after a test match and fights for survival!

A tragic incident occurred during yesterday's friendly match between Hamburger SV and Real Mallorca at the Son Moix Stadium in Palma. Shortly before the start of the game, a HSV fan fell from a stand and is currently in critical condition in hospital Cologne City Gazette reported. The unfortunate man climbed onto a railing between the guest area and the home area and slipped for unknown reasons. The fall was about seven meters and ended on the hard stone floor, in an area where paramedics were stationed with an ambulance.

The immediate response of the rescue workers on site was crucial. Intensive medical care began immediately and the fan was stabilized and taken to the Son Espases State Hospital under artificial respiration. At the moment, his condition remains described as critical, as the Mallorca newspaper also shows: “The fan has been admitted to the intensive care unit and will continue to be treated intensively there.” Despite the incident, the game kicked off and HSV lost 2-0 to the hosts.

Crowd of people and sporting situation

It is particularly shocking that such an incident occurs again and again in the context of football. Already in a tragic accident during the Nations League final on June 9th, where a fan fell from the stands during the first half of extra time and tragically died, there was no evidence of foul play, as the police reported ( n-tv ). Such events always raise the question of how safety standards in stadiums can be improved.

For Hamburger SV, the coming period will now have to take a conscious look back at necessary changes in how we deal with our own fans and their safety. Everyone's thoughts go to the injured fan and his relatives in these difficult hours.
