Cologne star trip 2025: Mega bicycle demos expected on Sunday!

On Sunday, June 15, 2025, Cologne becomes a bicycle city! Under the motto "Cologne star trip 2025 - cycling connects - Cologne remains colorful", private individuals plan a total of ten bicycle demonstrations approved by the Cologne police. Around 1,000 participants who want to stand up for more visibility and safety of cycling are expected. The start is scheduled for around 12 noon, whereby the starting points extend over several parts of the city, including Porz, Sürth, Meschenich, Weiden, Widdersdorf, Chorweiler and Dellbrück. Dedicated cyclists also become active outside of Cologne, with starting cakes in the pedestrian zone in Leverkusen-Wiesdorf and on Otto-Räcke-Platz in Hürth. The demonstration will meet with the participants of the "Kidical Mass" at Heumarkt, which starts at 2 p.m. on Rudolfplatz to stand up for a child -friendly Cologne.

The route of the demonstrations leads after an intermediate rally along the banks of the Rhine and through the inner -city area. Another highlight of the day is the final rally, which is expected to take place at the Heumarkt around 4:30 p.m. Due to this event, traffic impairments in the entire urban area are to be expected, which is why the Cologne police recommend that you by bypass the inner city area and plan more time for trips, such as news today and Cologne Stadt-Anzeiger Report.

traffic and citizen participation in focus

Transport policy is currently a hot iron in Cologne. In addition to the bicycle demonstrations, the planned east-west axis of the Cologne transport companies also focuses on. The need for real citizen participation is often discussed here. Critics note that current practice is often perceived as non -transparent and important information is not provided. So many questions remain unanswered that make a real discussion and participation of the citizens impossible-a problem that also left-wing fraction Cologne grabs.

The objectives sound promising, but implementation often has weaknesses. A clear plan for citizen participation is missing, and important actors feel excluded by the existing schedule. The goal of promoting cycling in Cologne and at the same time creating affordable, child -friendly traffic solutions urgently needs a transparent and inclusive approach to meet the demands of the residents.
