Drug war in Cologne: Designed breaks his silence in the process!

Hürth, Deutschland - The drug war in Cologne and the surrounding area beats high waves and has resulted in a spiral of violence with explosions and hostage frames since summer 2024. In this context, three men are currently in front of the Cologne Regional Court, who are held responsible for serious robberies and organized crime. Among them is Aymen G., a 22-year-old German-Algerier, whose role is examined in a particularly dramatic incident. According to Rundschau Online, he is said to have revealed information about a drug gang in Hürth that stored 700 kg of marijuana. Armed perpetrators attacked the warehouse and robbed about half of the marijuana, which not only led to a high financial loss, but also to an increase in violence and crime in the region.

The process that has been running since the beginning of April has now taken an exciting turn on the eleventh day of the trial. The 22-year-old commented on his defender about the allegations and explained that he was ready to take responsibility for his actions. However, he vehemently denied having betrayed the location. While his defense lawyer emphasized that Aymen G. was not involved in the robbery and stayed in a shisha bar in Cologne at the time of the crime, there is a explosive turn: his cell phone was logged in near the crime scene on the day of the attack, June 22, 2024. This causes a sensation. The young man asked the question: "Why would I have stayed near the robbery if I had been the traitor?"

a gloomy network

The events around the drug war underline the growing problem of drug crime in Germany. In 2023, around 347,000 drug crime cases were recorded by the police. The cannabis cases in particular make up a large part of these statistics. Over 208,000 of these offenses are cannabis related, although the substance has been partially legal since April 1, 2024. But the black market continues to flourish, which indicates a clear decline in drug crime. A terrifying detail: In 2023, the number of drug deaths in Germany was around 2,230, which is a serious health and social problem, confirms Statista.

The current incidents in Cologne are not an isolated case. In a far -reaching network of drug gangs, which also recruit from the Netherlands, young men are often on behalf of organized crime. These perpetrators, often from precarious conditions, carry out their orders for low payment and are involved in a variety of criminal activities that range from kidnapping to torture to explosive attacks. In January 2025 there were already 23 arrests of accused of Cologne drug gangs, which the Kripo referred to as "outstanding success", as ZDF today.

The increased security situation in connection with the process is another sign of worrying development. The police have significantly tightened the precautions to protect both the negotiation and the witnesses concerned. More and more people are looking forward to developments in this process - after all, the danger is real that these dangerous drug gangs will continue on the rise.
